Hi Fran: so sorry to hear this! The Sicily yoga trip where we met Giorgio and family was a highlight for sure. The generosity and warmth from his family was humbling. And the food! Who can forget the return to get the olive oil? So glad we had the chance to meet this extraordinary man. Ron

Hi Julian, Thank you so much for your comment. I love what you wrote and I am deeply moved by this. I'm so happy to know of someone else whose life was made better by getting to know George/Giorgio. I know Maria's ricotta farm. I know his classic car. He was so careful with it and so glad the kids got to drive in it! Yes, he sent me many pictures of wild mushroom foraging! I also love to forage for mushrooms. What a story about eating too may Chicken of the Woods mushrooms and ending up in the hospital. I had not heard that one! Yes, we lost a Salt of the Earth Character. I will give your regards to his family! Sincerely, Fran (Francesca)

Hi Fran - we havent met but my family visited George many times over the years. Supplying us with lovely food (courtesy of Antonella and his incredible veg garden). My son had terrible eczema one time and he immediately produced an ointment he'd made from a local riverside flower - amazing. He took us to middle of nowhere restaurants, ricotta farms, old cave dwellings, booked us into pizza restaurants, and drove our kids in his classic car. The kids all loved the animal sanctuary, and all remember Zeus. We both shared a love of foraging wild mushrooms and sent photos of our finds to each other, comparing the italian and english names - he had never heard of Chicken of the Woods but recognised my photos and told me he ended up in hospital once having eaten too much of it. He told us stories about growing up in Modica, my favourite being that he and his brother slept on the street outside their house when it got too hot! A real salt of the earth character, he treated us like old friends and we will miss him. Much love to his family, friends and Modica ❤️x
