In reply to <a href="https://frangallo.com/seasons-greetings/#comment-99704">Joe(y)</a>.

Wonderful to hear your comments to this post, Joe(y)! Ah, the stick of plastic covers to the legs! And, you know? It feels so good to know that we share in these memories. And so glad that grandpa watered down your wine, too. Yes, the italian sausage and my mom's bread. So many good memories. We were so lucky! I loved you when you were a baby, and loved you as a goofy little boy, loved you as a gawky teen, and I still love you, as you juggle being an environmental scientist and being a married life and father of two super cool grown children! I love you with your tendency to over-indulge during the holidays and then your running marathons to get back in shape. Love and kisses right back at you from Uncle Rick and me!

I love hearing your stories Aunt Fran. I would have loved to have been there when you, mom and my other aunties were helping get the onions chopped, garlic pealed, and then the fun part of washing all the pots and dishes afterwards. I did get to experience some of the those moments years later in the basement of the house in Merrillville just around the corner from our home. I too got to have some watered down wine with DIet 7up and always ate too much Italian sausage, bread, etc.... which still continues to this day- me eating far too much during the holidays and now trying to work off those extra pounds and get back in shape in the middle of our now hybrid Indiana winters- warm one day, single digits the next. Anyhow I so remember the couches, sofa chair with the plastic covers that stuck to your legs and made that unique plastic sound. Different times but always a purpose for doing things. Thanks for being able to bring back those moments from long ago and allowing me to go back in time. Sending love and kisses to you and Uncle Rick in Seattle.

Fran,
Thank you for your memories of Christmases in your past. Your writing is so descriptive I could imagine what it was like and then to see and experience the tarantella dance was wonderful. Being an only child, I didn’t experience siblings but my aunt and uncle and grandmother always made Christmas special. I loved going to church and singing all the Christmas carols. I miss our normalcy and traditions and I hope and pray we can resume them in 2022. I’m so sorry for your loss of your sister. Life as we knew it will be different going forward but as we love each other maybe we can create goodness again.
Miss you Fran!
