Hello from Hindelang in the Bavarian Alps. I only have one precious week here visiting dear friends Tom and Ursula. My journey from Seattle to Hindelang was long, but, three planes and three trains later, I am now ensconced in this beautiful green village, Hindelang. The week ahead will be filled with hiking, great times with Tom and Ursula, yoga in the evenings followed by wonderfully healthy light dinners.
We went on a hike today to Schwarzenberghutte, a lodge and lunch stop at 1380 meters. The trails were muddy, the air about as fresh as it gets, a few cows were out munching on fresh grass and wild flowers, and the weather cold and wet. As we gained altitude, rain gave way to snow. Before we left, Ursula lent me one of her rain ponchos, which kept me both dry and warm.
The title of this blog came to me as I was taking in all the various shades of green in this alpine terrain. I have tried to capture the shades of green and the mist and experience of being here through the photos below.
Wow!
So great to spend time with Tom and Ursula!!! love, Fran

Not sure why you appear as anonymous, Rick! And what do you mean,
Speak German? Huh? Love, Fran
That place amazes me every time I see it! I can’t believe it’s real. So beautiful!
You are right, Nikoel! It doesn’t seem real to me either. I keep saying, “Oh, it ‘s so beautiful!” again and again. Today all the cows were out in the fields. They wear bells and the whole valley is filled with the sound of cow bells…like wind chimes, reminding me I am in a rich valley with cows everywhere…tomorrow, I am going to find some buttermilk to drink. They sell it fresh. I had it two years ago when I was here last and it is super good…like a yogurt drink. love, Fran
