I am in New Delhi! How can sitting on a plane be so exhausting? It is such a long flight to get here. I am here with my lovely group. We arrived completely disoriented a little past midnight this morning. How comforting to see Arvind Singh’s smiling face, hands held to his heart in Namaste as he greeted us!
We spent our first night at the Likir House, a Tibetan guesthouse owned by the Dalai Lama’s sister-in-law and run by sweet Tibetan women. We didn’t get to spend too much time there. I was in bed by 3am and woke up at 8:30am to the sound of fruit and vegetable vendors calling out their sales to the people of the neighborhood.
We had just enough time to walk through the lively textile market near the Tibetan Guesthouse before transferring over to our posh Royal Plaza Hotel.
I love the area of Delhi where the Tibetan Guest House is. The streets are relatively clean and the market vendors courteous and friendly. Colorful saris dazzle the eyes. Word has it that parts of India, including the Taj Mahal, were scrubbed clean for Obama’s recent visit.
Enjoy these photos from today’s market foray.
What a feast of color to wake up to. Namaste
Lynn and I are in Heathrow. We fly soon on different flights. See you tomorrow!
