I have lived in Seattle long enough not to be fooled when the forecast calls for rain.  Rain comes in all kinds of intensity.   “Don’t let a rainy forecast keep you indoors” is one of my new mantras, but be sensible and have an umbrella and rain proof jacket on hand, just in case. After 20 years of living here, I have grown to love this time of year, and the moisture that comes with it. Yesterday’s forecast called for rain, but Leslie and I went ahead with our plans to walk in Discovery Park.  It was the most pleasant walk and it wasn’t raining at all.  It was one of those moist late autumn days with just enough light coming through the clouds to cast the smallest of a shadow.  Now, you really had to look hard for that feint shadow, but it was there.  It seemed everyone was out and about, walking with their dogs.  In fact, it looked like the “dog parade”.

Saturday’s wind storm and heavy rain brought down a lot of leaves, so the path was soft and leaf-strewn.  Discovery Park is full of deciduous trees and for some reason, the color yellow seemed to jump out at us as we walked!

Here are some beautiful photos from Sunday’s 4 mile walk/hike in Discovery Park:

Leaf-Strewn Path

My Feet and Yellow Leaves

This patch of yellow leaves seemed lit up by artificial light and the day seemed suddenly super bright under cloud coverage.

Eagle! (too bad I don't have a good telephoto lens on my camera)

Scenes like this seared in my mind forever (eagle on tree overlooking the bluff)
