Continuing to enjoy our time in Iceland.
Went back to Kerid Crater Lake with the group. This time I hiked around the rim (clockwise and counterclockwise because it was so extraordinary and fun to do) and down to the base of the crater and around the crater lake.
A visit to a lava quarry! Our bus driver, Omar, works at this quarry so he took us here to show us around.
We had lunch at a high-tech bio/energy sustainable greenhouse completely run on geothermal energy. I will save photos for another time since it was so incredibly fascinating and there is a lot to say on the subject. The owner, Helena, gave us a detailed explanation of her family business. The family produces 18% of all tomatoes sold in Iceland. We then had a delicious lunch of tomato soup at the greenhouse.
Geysir was next. The main geyser only blows once every ten years, but we saw a smaller one which blows every 4 minutes. “Smaller” but large enough to thrill every 4 minutes!!
And the grand finale…the incredible waterfalls at Gullfoss! They are so spectacular that they almost eclipsed everything else we did all day. WOW!!
And YES, we did yoga in the morning and again before dinner. Felt better than ever in the evening. Some had time to soak before yoga class and they came in all relaxed and ready to stretch, breathe, and clear the mind.
