I forgot to mention RAIN in the title of this blog. On Saturday, May 3, the first day of our retreat, we had record breaking rainfall. Considering we live where we do in Washington, that’s a lot of rain! Did I mention that our one-day retreats in Issaquah include a two-hour hike?
Luckily, on Saturday, we had a rain “break” at the scheduled hike time, made a dash for the mountain trails, and had a great two-hour hike. On Sunday, we had more rain and at first, I didn’t think the hike was going to happen at all! BUT, at some point on Sunday afternoon, the rain came to a lull and Howard, Dayna, and I made a dash for the mountains and enjoyed a one-hour hike through muddy trails and bearded rain forests. Despite the rain, or maybe because of the rain, both hikes were beautiful.
The Issaquah Yoga Retreats are a wonderful tradition. Every May and every October, I hold two one-day retreats at Crystal Creek Yoga Studio at the home of Cathy Pierce. From the moment we walk into the door, we are all transported into a world of comfort, delight, and wholeness. We are greeted by hugs, exquisite art, Cathy’s artful figures gracing the table, fancy yellow tulips with red stripes delicately placed in colored jars, parakeets chirping, and big windows looking out over forest and mountain. While we do yoga in the studio, a warm fire burns in the fireplace, and I always feel like I am up in a tree house because of the greenery we see from every window.
