Today I went on an 8 mile hike with Leslie to Granite Mountain. The weather was overcast and much cooler than it has been. The hike up Granite Mountain is steep, challenging, but oh-so-worth-it! There is a 3800 feet thigh-burning altitude gain. We hiked through lush old growth forests and through meadows decorated with bulbous beargrass, beautiful creamy-white club-like flowers. The meadows were also filled with heather in bloom, lupine, paintbrush, and wild lilies. At the top of Granite Mountain, we had 360 degree views of the North Cascades. There we stood still and listened to the bees buzzing their way through fields and fields of wildflowers in bloom.
