We are renting a sweet mother-in-law unit in the Wallingford neighborhood of Seattle, a garage-turned-cottage with loft, otherwise known as a “grattage”, our pied-à-terre en ville.    Our place is close to some nice dining spots, Meridian Park where I teach the outdoor Yoga in the Park all summer long on Tuesday evenings, Rick’s favorite poetry bookstore, Open Books, and the Guild 45th for seeing some good movies.  I’d give this place a 95% on urban walk-ability.   What really makes me happy is that, though I have to park curbside, there is plenty of parking on my street.

Perhaps the best part of living here in the Wallingford neighborhood are the trees.  And this time of year, the leaves look to be on fire.  We are having a windstorm today and we have had gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.  It looks to be raining leaves and is ever so beautiful.  I thought perhaps all the leaves might come down today, but these trees are showy and not ready to let the fire die out.

The leaves are still hanging on.  Welcome to my neighborhood.
