Lighthouse Lighting

It is hard to believe that yesterday, in the middle of driving all over Reykjavik, putting the finishing touches to the pre-retreat planning, Julie and I stopped at the beach for a stroll.  We were in search of some thermal foot baths we had read about on the internet.  We never found them, but we did come across the gleaming white lighthouse of Reykjavik.

And given that the weather was really nice, I was able to get some great shots yesterday.  It is fun to see these photos, because today we had driving rains and winds.  Did I dream up the sunshine? In hopes of getting some shut-eye, I will post these from yesterday and hope each photo tells you a story or two from this magical land of Iceland.

  1. Fran – Great photos as always, you have a really good eye. Lucky day to have bright sunshine and shadows, makes for much better photos, I was not so fortunate during my 4 days there last year, overcast for all but a couple of hours. I can confirm that you are absolutely capturing the spirit of the place. No doubt you and your group will see some of Iceland’s breathtaking waterfalls. Gullfoss, not far from Rekyjavik, is one of the best.
For all your efforts, many times þakka þér – that’s Icelandic for thank you.
