Little Bear turned 17 today in August!  I feel bad that I didn’t get to around to dedicating a blog to him for his special day.

Let’s do the math…Little Bear’s age is equivalent to that of an 85 year old man!

He still seems pretty young and feisty to me.  Yes, he is getting bony. In his prime, he sported a swaying belly that swooshed from side to side as he ran. It was kind of embarrassing to watch, but he managed to keep his dignity intact!  And now, even though he has a superb appetite, he has become thin and bony.  His fur is fluffy as ever so you would never know how thin he has become unless you pick him up or pet him. Whereas once upon a time he weighed in at a whopping 12 pounds, he now weighs less than 10 pounds.  That’s at least 1/6th lighter than he used to be.  Other signs of aging include his new bow-legged-ness.   If you didn’t know his age, you’d easily say we have a youngster on our hands.

Well, maybe we can attribute Little Bear’s youthfulness to all his napping hours! Or to the fine food we buy from the vet’s.  Or from the brushings we give him.  Or from all the Love Cat Belly Rubs from Rick!   Let’s face the facts:  this guy’s got a good life.  He does yoga regularly with me on my mat and attends a few yoga retreats per year at Ocean Shores!

Someone just told me that his cat lived to be 24 years old…. oh, my!

I will leave you with some photos of Little Bear at 17 years of age:
