Life has been on fast track here in South India. Yesterday we arrived in Periyar National Park. Again, not much time to write about this experience, but here are a few photos. The highlight was seeing the wild Asian elephants in the park!
The day began in Madurai with yoga. We all loved Madurai with the beautiful heritage hotel sitting up on a forested hill overlooking the city of Madurai and the mountains, the grounds where we did yoga where the hotel staff supplied mats, face towels, and water for us, and the peacocks (even if Susan I. had the mishap of stepping on peacock poo, we still loved this place!)
Lush, humid, gorgeous…again we want to stay here longer! The room has a balcony, but we have to keep the door shut for fear that the monkeys will come in and raid our room! In fact there is a Monkey Alert sign that says:
Beware of Monkeys (actually it says: Beware of Monkey’s)
It is advised to keep your Room, Balcony doors and windows closed in order to avoid entry of stray monkeys, as the resort is close to the wildlife sanctuary.
Off to hike in the park!
Oh that looks very pretty and lush! Not like some of the arid brown places I’ve seen.
