Sometimes photos say it all!
Tulips: I spent a fine day yesterday on Vashon Island at Karen Biondo’s farm. Her farm is alive and buzzing with abundant life force. Even her tulips seem to sing “Spring”!
Other than growing vegetables and fruits, running a vegetable stand, raising chickens, goats and pigs, making batches of soup using her own organic produce, and selling it to her neighbors, Karen also works at the Vashon Farmer’s Market. In this photo, Earth-Steward-Farmer Karen Biondo stands next to her beautiful pizza oven! You can find Karen and Leslie Shattuck making and selling pizza at the Vashon Farmers’ Market on Saturdays.
These tulips have a pencil thin red outline on each petal! Pure magic Biondo-Style!
Outdoors on the farm: everywhere you look, Karen has added her unique artistic touches. This wall faces her outdoor kitchen.
Oink! Karen shows me her muddy pigs. I learned they don’t have sweat glands and that’s why they like to wallow in the mud or in puddles (to keep cool!!)
I taught a yoga session at Island Yoga Center on Vashon (arranged and organized by Karen and Leslie) and then had a great dinner outdoors back at Karen’s farm. Leslie, Jon, and Karen in this photo. (everything-except the King Salmon-is from Karen’s garden!
And today, I delighted in the cherry blossoms. The blossoms that fall look like PINK SNOW! This was taken at Linda’s house in Seattle.
And here she is: Linda surrounded by her 4 dogs. Linda’s passion in life is rescuing/fostering/giving new life to dogs that have been abandoned or dropped off in shelters simply because they are elderly or blind or sick or have been hit by a car and have a broken hip (you are looking at these very real stories in this photo!). This photo brings tears to my eyes because it is so BEAUTIFUL. Linda is at her happiest and so are Cookie, Pooh Bear, Dotty, and Ruby!
I feel blessed 100-fold because I am surrounded by the most remarkable people!
I’d love to visit Seattle in Spring. ^__^
oh wow! this makes me miss Vashon! and it is good to see Leslie again after our Montana retreat, years ago!
you are indeed surrounded by many friends who love you.
Beautiful, Frannie!
