Holy Moly, India! You’ve done it again. You’ve captured my heart and soul. I bring back with me your smiles and kindness, your curiosity and your audacity to believe that the divine lives within all of us.

I bring back with me the pleading eyes of the dogs (craving love and attention) at the Dhyan Foundation Animal Shelter and the incredible generosity of the volunteers who have nothing to lose and everything to gain by giving of their valuable time and love to the animals in the shelter.

I bring back some ever deepening friendships with the trip participants and with our fearless guide, Dr. Arvind Singh.

As I approach the trips to India, I am often filled with a sense of being overwhelmed. How will I do this? How will it all turn out? How will I go so far from home and be away for so long? And, before I know it, the trip begins. It begins when I leave home to get to SeaTac Airport. As soon as I land in Chennai, all that is India begins to unfold.  Before I know it, I’m riding the magic carpet that passes through villages, flies over lush jungle, rushes past masses of humanity, soars past colorful saris, and floats past the golden steeples of the colorful South Indian temples.

The trips to India remain fascinating to me and I continue learning to see India through a more refined lens.
