Yoga on the Beach Retreat this past weekend proved to be a fabulous time.  The weather was not as dry as I had wished for, but I was determined to hold this morning’s yoga session on the beach.  Never mind the mist and the wet sand sticking on to our feet and the outdoor set of yoga mats, we did it!  And the outdoor session felt incredibly energizing! We focused on breathing in prana-charged air, taking in the fresh pure ocean air, and listening to the sound of the ocean waves while moving our bodies and stirring our souls. At times, flocks of cormorants, pelicans, and geese flew overhead.  Only one person went jogging by.  We had the entire beach to ourselves.  Just us, the sea, the mist, the birds, the clouds, and the fresh breeze….our outdoor yoga session was beautiful.

This photo was taken yesterday on our afternoon walk (it was overcast, but warm at the beach)

We experienced a weekend filled with yoga practice where we used props such as backless yoga chairs. headstand bench, inversion sling, and bolsters.   We had a wonderful time doing long yoga sessions, being creative with the asanas, inverting, practicing deep backbends, and doing postures that elongate the spine.  We enjoyed our meals together and had enlightened conversations, fast walks (some walked faster than others), lots of laughter, and we had shared readings on Saturday evening.

A doe and her twin fawns came to visit us. The fawns were curious and stared at us through the window as we did our afternoon yoga session.

I felt recharged from the weekend retreat and sometimes I forgot I was hosting the retreat because I was retreating along with the others.
