Woke up to a perfect morning. Here at Ocean Shores, it must be around 60 degrees, warm and sunny. The air is pure and calm, the birdsong loud. It is Mother’s Day and a beautiful one at that. I stroll out in the garden and delight in the spectacular show of flowers. I never tire of them! They are smiling faces of children. They are laughter and they are life.
Here are some rhododendrons in yellow, red, and purple. Compared to Seattle’s blooms, everything blooms about 2-3 weeks later here at the coast:
In the distance I can hear the surf as I sit out on the deck drinking my morning coffee, reading Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann.
And what would a morning out here be without Rick’s Morning Smoothie? Today’s smoothie had the following nine healthy ingredients:
- Nancy’s non fat plain yogurt
- orange juice
- cranberry juice
- frozen bananas
- one apple (not frozen)
- frozen pineapple
- frozen blueberries
- flax seeds
- dash of nutmeg
Here are some other images from this magical morning at the coast:

This is a world of color! Ornamental strawberry flowers and lithodora:

My wish for today is that you enjoy every precious moment, are surrounded by people you love, and celebrate mothers, all women, and Mother Earth who create, bring to life, support and nurture all living sentient beings.
How perfect that my comment would follow that which was written by someone I knew before you Fran. Long ago in a different theatre based world I knew you Annette-Book It days. Hope you’re doing very well.
And onto to this lovely post I found by a wild series of clicks. Fran what a lovely world you are living in. I miss your vibrant soul. It looks like life is going well for you. I do hope that is true and i look forward to the day our paths cross again.
All the best,
Grace
Hi Grace,
Thank you for your comment to my post, Grace. What a small world when you, Annette, and I connect via a blog entry about my mom. Are you the Grace I knew from the downtown YMCA? All the best to you! Fran
What a lovely post fran. 😉 Miss you and hope all is well.
Love,

ps tell Rick I said hello.
Thank you so much!!! Lovely thoughts and images both. I am blessed to have you in my life. And also, mothering extends beyond giving birth to a human child- nurturing pets, plants, students- you are part of this divine giving in such a huge and welcome way.
Love, Annette
Thank you for the lovely Mother’s Day present of the musings and pictures from the peaceful morning at your retreat.
